A former UFC lightweight champion, Edgar’s quest for a second divisional crown has taken him to 145 pounds, where he has won four straight against Charles Oliveira, BJ Penn, Cub Swanson and Urijah Faber. A win against Faber’s teammate, Mendes, could set the stage for a 2016 shot at the belt. A three-time challenger for the world featherweight crown, former Division I All-American wrestler Mendes could put a significant dent in Edgar’s plans for a title shot.

On Saturday, November 7th, veteran superstars Vitor Belfort and Dan Henderson will attempt to break their 1-1 tie when they meet in Sao Paulo. In their first bout, which was in PRIDE in October 2006, Henderson won a unanimous decision against the Brazilian. But, in November 2013, “The Phenom” evened the score, knocking out Henderson in the first round. With Henderson coming off a big win against Tim Boetsch, he will look to end this trilogy with his arm raised. Plus, in a featured light heavyweight bout, former world title challenger Glover Teixeira will look to follow up his recent win against Ovince Saint Preux with another big victory when he faces Top 10 Patrick Cummins.

UFC® will once again bring an action-packed card to Southern California when two of the heavyweight division’s toughest fighters, former two-time heavyweight champion Frank Mir and knockout artist Todd Duffee, collide. The heavy hitters meet at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego on Wednesday, July 15, the promotion’s first visit to San Diego since August 2010.

UFC 188: Velasquez vs Werdum from June 13, 2015. Headlining the June card is the highly anticipated five-round main event featuring UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez (13-1, fighting out of San Jose, Calif.), and interim heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum (19-5-1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Calif. by way of Porto Alegre, Brazil). Two of the best featherweights in the world will attempt to make their case for a shot at the 145-pound crown on Saturday, April 4th when former world title challengers Chad “Money” Mendes and Ricardo “The Bully” Lamas meet in Fairfax, Virginia. Fresh from an epic five-rounder with Jose Aldo in their October 2014 rematch, Mendes is eager to start another winning streak. Lamas has won two in a row since his bout with Aldo in February 2014, defeating Hacran Dias and Dennis Bermudez. In the co-main event, lightweight contenders Jorge Masvidal and Al Iaquinta collide in what promises to be an action-packed showdown.

UFC Fight Night: Maia vs LaFlare from March 21, 2015. The UFC returns to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Saturday, March 21st with a stacked card featuring a five-round main event battle between welterweight contenders Demian Maia and Ryan LaFlare. Owner of four wins at welterweight, former middleweight title challenger Maia is in top form after his 2014 victory against Alexander Yakovlev in his hometown of Sao Paulo. In LaFlare, Maia will face a rising star whose unbeaten slate includes four UFC wins against Benny Alloway, Santiago Ponzinibbio, Court McGee and John Howard.

UFC lightweight champion Anthony “Showtime” Pettis defends his crown for the second time against surging Brazilian contender Rafael dos Anjos. Jumping right back into the Octagon following his impressive second-round submission win against Gilbert Melendez at UFC 181, Milwaukee’s Pettis promised to stay active in 2015. He believes this is just the start of another big year. Dos Anjos has long been one of the most underrated lightweights in the UFC, but in 2014, he had three wins—including knockouts of Benson Henderson and Jason High, plus a decision win against Nate Diaz.

Currently ranked in the Top 10, Brazil's Silva is unbeaten in three of his past five bouts, with stoppage wins against Travis Browne and Alistair Overeem. In former two-time heavyweight champion Mir, Silva will be facing a talented submission artist who is looking to get back in the win column.

UFC Fight Night: Henderson vs Thatch from February 14, 2015. Colorado’s own Brandon “Rukus” Thatch faces former UFC champion Benson Henderson in an anticipated battle on February 14th. Unbeaten in his past 10 fights dating back to 2009, Thatch has used his varied striking attack to finish both Justin Edwards and Paulo Thiago. After a layoff of more than a year due to injury, he intends to pick up where he left off against Henderson. One of the best lightweights in the world for years, Henderson has fought and beat the best at 155 pounds. Now, he’s ready to test the waters in the stacked welterweight division, and a win against Thatch would make a statement to his 170-pound peers.

UFC Fight Night: Gustafsson vs Johnson from January 24, 2015. Swedish superstar Alexander Gustafsson will risk his No. 1 light heavyweight ranking on Saturday, January 24th, when he takes on feared knockout artist Anthony “Rumble” Johnson inside the 30,000-seat Tele2 Arena in Stockholm, Sweden. Expected to produce the next challenger for the 205-pound title, this bout will match Gustafsson, the man who nearly toppled champion Jon Jones, against the dangerous Johnson, who returned to the Octagon in April to impressively defeat Phil Davis. In an equally intriguing co-main event, UFC legend Dan Henderson moves back to the middleweight division to face off against The Netherlands’ Gegard Mousasi in a clash of former Strikeforce champions.

UFC Fight Night: McGregor vs Siver from January 18, 2015. On January 18th, Dublin’s Conor McGregor will kick off his 2015 campaign with a return to the city where he first made his name in the United States. He takes on fellow featherweight contender Dennis Siver in the main event of a special Sunday edition of UFC Fight Night in Boston, Massachusetts. The five-round featherweight matchup marks McGregor’s first visit to Boston since an August 2013 victory against Max Holloway. Since then, “The Notorious” has been unstoppable, increasing his unbeaten streak to 12-0 with 2014 knockouts of Diego Brandao and Dustin Poirier, both of which earned Performance of the Night awards.
